Submit Your Links to Social Bookmarking Websites to Drive Traffic to Your Webpage

What is 'social bookmarking'? To understand social bookmarking, you need to understand how Google works.  Everyday the Google computers go to thousands of social bookmarking websites and look at all the new links that are on them.  Links are buttons or text so that when you click on them they take you to another website.  When Google sees your link listed on many of these websites it elevates your Google ranking.

How do I get my website listed on these social bookmarking websites?  This step is simple but can be very time consuming.  Fortunately there are a few tips of the trade that can massively reduce the time it takes to do this.  First, you find a list (like the one below) of social bookmarking websites.  Then you go to those websites, register an account and find where you can "submit" a link to your website.  Then you fill in a form that usually includes your URL, a title, a description and tags.  Then that's it.

    For folkd, you must register to the website first (this is a common theme to get ready for).  Fortunately it's a quick and easy process on folkd.  Active your registration via email.  Then log in to your folkd account and click on the "Add new link" tab.  First page requires you to submit your url.  Second page is where you input title, description and tags and requires you to type in a few words down the bottom of the page so that they know you're not a robot.  Quick and Easy.

    Register.  That done you simply click on the "Settings" tab, followed by the "Tools" sub-tab.  You'll see two bullet points marked 1 & 2.  You can choose 1 OR 2.  I recommend option one where you click on their Spurl! link and drag it to your bookmarks toolbar.  Next you go to your website or whatever website you're submitting.  When your page has loaded, click the "Spurl" link in your bookmarks and a small window will pop-up.  Fill in the information and submit.  Done and dusted.

    Register for the site as per usual and choose a simple picture for your profile.  Next, click on the blue: "Post" button up the top right hand corner.  Fill in the information and see the "note" entry as being the same as the "description" entry.  You can click on the "my ratings" tab in the top left hand corner to check that it registered.

    • Register.  After that you'll see a pretty self-explanatory page come up.  Drag the big round button that has "Blink! Drag me" into your bookmark toolbar.  Next, go to the page you want to submit and then click the "Blink!" button in your toolbar.  A small window will pop-up where you input your submission details.  Once you're done, click "Blink!" in the small window.

    • Click on "Join Stumble" at the top right hand corner of the page and register from there.  When you log in, you'll automatically be on the "Discover" tab.  Click to the right of it to go to the "Favourites" tab.  Then, click on the "Add a site" button on the right of the screen.  Then, follow the prompts.

    • Register by clicking on the "Become a member" button in the top right-hand corner of the screen.  After you've activated your account, login and click on the "create a jumptag" button on the mid right hand side of the tabs on the main page.  Next click: "Add Bookmark" and fill in the rest of the information.

    Register.  On your account main page, click on "My favourites" and then click on "Add favourite".  Follow the prompts.

    Click "Sign Up" in the top right-hand corner of the screen.  Activate via email.  Then login.  In the top right-hand corner of the screen click: "new link".  Follow the instructions to add a new link.

    • Click "Sign up" to join (top right hand corner). The next page will have a button in the middle of it that says: "Add a bookmark".

    Click on "Register" down at the bottom of the page to create an account.  Hover the mouse above the word: "New" in the top left hand corner of your account main page.  Then click: "Link".  Then follow the prompts.

    • Register (use the link provided).  You'll be transferred to your account homepage.  Scroll down and you'll see an explanation of how to register new links.  Like Blink! and Spurl! (see above) you need to drag the Ziki logo into your bookmarks toolbar.  Then, in a new window/tab, open up the page you are trying to submit.  Now, with your page filling the browser window, click on your "Ziki" button in your toolbar.  A new tab will automatically open that allows you to enter your information for the site you're submitting.  Once you've clicked through to submit your details, don't forget to click "Submit Story" on the next page!

    Registration is quick and easy, then click "Add a bookmark at the top of the main page tabs.

    Register (use our link) and then activate via email.  Then click top right button "Submit a new story".  Follow the prompts.

    Click "Join Kirsty" on the main page to register.  After activating via email, click on the orange "Submit a story" button on the left hand side of the page.  Then follow the submission process.

    • Register by following the provided link above. 

  •  BibSonomy - http://www.bibSonomy.org  - [Click here to Begin]

    • Register, then insert the provided button into your bookmarks toolbar, just like with Blink!, Spurl!, Ziki, etc...  Then go to the page you wish to bookmark and click on that button in your toolbar.  Then follow the prompts.

    • Register by clicking join on the left-hand side of the site's main page (or the link we've provided).  After signing up, go back to the main page, and below the "join" button click: "Submit a new story".  Follow the prompts.  Sometimes this site's a bit faulty.

    • Register and activate via email.  Then click: "Submit a new story" in the tabs below the banner.  Then follow the prompts.

    • Register and activate via email.  In the red tabs section at the top of the page, click "Submit new".  Then follow the prompts.

    • Register (button is on top right-hand corner of the main page).  After registering, click on the "Submit a new story" button in the middle of the tabs on the account main page.  Then follow the instructions.

    • Registration involves twice setting your password.  Then click: "Submit story" in the top right hand corner of the page.  Then follow the prompts.

    Register.  Like Ziki, bibs, etc... you'll need to click and drag a button into your bookmarks toolbar.  Once that's done, you go to the page you wish to submit to, and then click the toolbar bookmark.  Next, follow the prompts.

    Click the "sign up" button on the main page, or go to the link provided above. Check your email in-box and click on the activation link when it arrives.  You can ignore installing the toolbar and keep clicking through to the next page without entering information, if you like.  When you get to your account home page, click on the "save" option in the menu tabs.  A form will appear where you can enter your details.

    Register on the main page.  When you get to your account main page (after activating via email) you click on the "post" button up the top right hand corner.  On the next page click the "Link" button, enter your url and some other boxes will emerge. Enter and submit.

    After registering be sure to activate your account.  Then, on your fave account main page, scroll to the very bottom and click on the button that says: "Fave from anywhere".  This will take you to the submission page.

    Register through our link above.  Then go to "Submit a new story".  It's in the middle of the tabs at the top of the page.  Enter your URL and follow the steps.

    This site is in German but not to fear, I can't speak German and I had no problems submitting.  Click on the link above and you'll be taken to their registration page. The first box is for your site user name, second is for your email, third is for your password, and fourth is to verify your password.  Un- check the box unless you want to receive a German language newsletter but be sure to check the "AGB der oneview GmbH" box (terms and conditions). 

    Then click: "weiter zum nachsten Schritt".  Next page, enter the verification text (in English) and click: "Los Ghet's".  Next, install the site's add-on by clicking the "Firefox-Erweiterung jetzt installieren" button.  You'll need to restart your browser for the installation to activate. 

    Next you'll need to click the activation link in the email they'll send you.  Doing this will take you to a page with a button that says: "Klicke bitte hier, um dich einzuloggen!" - click on it.  Now login with your details.  Now, in your "Mein Overview" page you can see a big blue button on the right that says: "Link Hinzufugen" - click on it.  

    That will take you to a page that should be easy to understand (even in German).  URL = URL, titel = Title, Speichern in = Tags, and a description/comment (Kommentar) box below.  Click that your comment is "Positiv" (positive).  Uncheck the "E-Mail Benachrichtigung bei Neuigkeiten dieser Diskussion" box.  Change nothing else and then click the "Speichern" button down the bottom. 

    And then you're done. 

    Don't let this long description put you off, it's been written to ensure nothing can go wrong, and you'll have a natural advantage as most other websites would have been scared off by the thought of another language.
